Gilroy Assembly # 125 IORG

Gilroy Greetings!
We have been very busy having fun in Gilroy these past few months. First was our district’s OV, which was held on the afternoon on September 13. Our theme was “Rainbow Goes Greek.” Together with our sisters in Santa Cruz, we decorated the lodge in Gilroy inside and outside with pictures of Greece, and Mrs. Breuer taught us how to make our new favorite dish: pasticcio!
After the OV, it was time to begin a new term. We again worked together with our sisters in Santa Cruz to help each other have our two Installations in one day. It was a very long day but a memorable one. I was installed as WA for Gilroy assembly, and my friend Bryn McFarland was installed as Santa Cruz’s WA. My theme was “The Service Is Out There”; and Bryn’s theme was “Be Excellent To Each Other.”
My first meeting was unfortunately cancelled due to a huge rainstorm that closed down many of the local streets, and this same storm cancelled a service project and a fundraiser we had planned for that weekend. However, our spirits were improved when Morgan Hill Lodge invited us to dinner and to see Hank Vlcek perform his magic. He was amazing! We also went to Lyric Theater’s production of “Cinderella,” paid for with the proceeds from one of our bake sales last term.
Our new Faith, Cassi Nelson, held a fun Halloween membership party in mid-October. I didn’t know bobbing for apples was so hard! And we attended the “Disco Fever Senior Ball” at the Masonic Retirement Home in Union City, where we danced the night away with some of our sisters in San Jose. And last night we saw “The Mark of Zorro” (1940) at the Stanford Theatre in Palo Alto. We loved the movie, but when are they going to turn on the color? We loved hearing the organist play after the movie.
Coming attractions in Gilroy include Mrs. Breuer’s OV, Initiation, an open meeting before Christmas, and caroling for Grand Service. Stay tuned!

  1. It’s great to see a Rainbow girl submitting to the Trestleboard! I’m excited to know what you girls are up to around the community and looking forward to finding some joint activities that our entire Masonic family can participate in.
